The Real birth of feminism

We all know in France that feminism started in the half of the 19st century with Hubertine Auclert. But it’s not really true that you think. The term feminism really started in the 19st century but not his fight. Indeed, it started in Antiquity in Greece in the century when Herodote, a philosopher, was still alive. And a term that defined feminism before, protofeminism.

Feminism during Antiquity

The fact that women have to stay in the kitchen was already here since Antiquity. Except that, for many people in this century, it was normal. The men have to fight with other people and the women...well stay at home, take care of the children because school is not already here. Do the chores, take the textile works (embroidery, weaving, spinning), BUT, they can go outside and take some food for the meal, INSANE !

There was some inequality between men’s jobs and women’s jobs. For example,in agriculture, we don’t see women plow or sow, no !

The only thing that women could do was to harvest. And this gonna last until the Middle Ages, to get an idea of how long it takes to change. Years pass by and the women get bigger.

Feminism on 18th Century

Let's take a step into the future. We are now in the 18th Century, the Age of Enlightenment. Womens are always inferior to men, but some philosophers have defended women’s rights, including Olympes de Gouges. In 1791, it was her who wrote the declaration of the rights of women and citizens. It was an ambition to be able to own the same rights as men. But she didn’t want that, she wanted also to be able to create maternity wards. To give birth in better conditions.

When we look now in the 21st century, compared to before, many things have changed. But feminism became more and more negative when we saw the pictures that people give. In particular with the Femen in Ukraine who organize their movements topless with a word writing on their bodies, and also Ni putes ni soumises in France to promote respect, secularism, mixity and équality.

And many more for the other country, the feminist movements are already everywhere in the World. But the subject of feminism is a little bit touchy to talk about. Also the problem now is that feminist are fighting not really for the rights or the men-women equality, but now they fighting espicially for removing sexism in every day life and that it becomes a reality

We talk many times about feminist, but we don’t really know where to start, so let’s see in the present et look what she have changed about the past.
