Maybe you didn’t know her name but you know her movement, i’m talking of course of #metoo.

Biography of the feminist

Tarana wab born 12 september 1973 in the Bronx. Between these years when Tarana was an educator, a girl talked to her. She affirmed that she has sexual harassment like Tarana has too.In 2007, she launched this movement #metoo who have like goal to solidarise women who have sexual harassment.This movement had especially grown during the Weinstein affair in 2017. In the end, she was named many times, including the Disobedience Awards at the MIT Media Lab. I talked about Tarana Burke but I have to talk also about the #metoo movement. Because, otherwise you won’t understand this movement.

The #metoo movement

The #metoo movement is to encourage womens to speak out. But also not to keep them to themselves if they have physical violence and sexual. But this movement has variants too. In particular in France with the #balancetonporc, #QuellaVoltaChe in Italy but also in other countries. This movement is being popular worldwide. The goal in France was to make the name of their attacker by putting the hashtag. The hastag talked about everything, as well as harassement, to rape. We also realised that victims were threatened at work. But also at home and at school.

In 2017, in France, there were more than 39 000 complaints for aggression but only one third were retained. because the police think that she’s the problem but not the fault of the attacker. All this because of the outfit that she was wearing , the time she went out, but also the street she was in. Only 16% of them who implicated the attacker were sentenced. Now you know why this movement exists now you know all. Tarana Burke did all of this because she wanted to protect young people in the future decades. She just wanted women to not be considered like people just for her beauty. Tarana wants to show what the human terms really means. These womens will be remembered in the numeric domain of women’s rights. Now in 2021,the movement is still having an effect, but it is gradually coming off by the media. She comes back at certain times but he doesn't give a negative face.

The moment when she was woken up by the media is when Roman Polanski released the movie “J’accuse” in 2020. And several days later, some women spoke about him. So, is it really necessary to separate the man from the artist?
